Kashmiri student Jahangir Arshad has developed a functional smart diaper prototype that offers predictive capabilities when it comes to the urinary needs of those who wear it.
The diaper can be worn by babies and adults alike, and would be most necessary in cases where either of these demographics are hospital patients for various health issues. The cloth diaper is fitted with a microchip with sensors that are able to detect pressure on the abdomen, and set off an alarm when the patient or wearer needs to urinate. As a result, medical providers or caretakers are able to care for the individual before any accidents occur.
These prototypical smart diapers were designed with comfort and elasticity in mind.
