Designers In-oh Yoo & Tae-soon Nam are bringing print and digital media together with their Smart Bookrest Docking System. The Smart Bookrest Docking System is a tablet stand with a built-in QR code scanner that scans the QR codes from magazines and displays their digital content.
The idea behind the Smart Bookrest Docking System is that every magazine and possibly even some books would have QR codes on each page displaying relative digital content. Magazines or books would be laid down in front of the dock so that the scanner could read their QR codes, which would ideally be placed at the top right of each page. This design could benefit magazines immensely as it would encourage users to buy physical copies to access digital content. Hopefully, this dock can be developed and released before print media goes the way of the dinosaur.
