In order to enhance its landmark status, a bridge in Sweden called the 'Sölvesborg Bridge' has been installed with a one-of-a-kind lighting system that uses color-changing LEDs to line the bridge's suspension cables.
The iconic Swedish bridge is Europe's longest bicycle and pedestrian trail. Measuring around 756 meters in length, featuring amazingly dramatic arches, Swedish lighting design firm Ljusarkitektur has taken to illuminating the sides and undersides of the entire bridge.
Taking inspiration from the local wildlife, fauna and flora; the result is an incredibly sublime light display programmed to change color sequences throughout the year. The designers also made sure to reduce the glow of the structure using glare shields to protect the glow from interrupting the natural landscape and surrounding ecosystems.
The glowing installation further highlights the bridge's subtlety juxtaposed with its dynamic and dramatic arches.
