Ceramic artist and designer Seo-Yeon Park crafts a the Slip-Cast collection full of ceramic tableware pieces based off artwork by American artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Park looks at the forms and colors of O'Keeffe's abstract paintings, and draws inspiration directly from one painting in particular -- 'The Dark Iris.' It is a painting of magnified flower works and the colors from this piece are translated into the color palette of the Slip-Cast collection.
The collection boasts the painting's colors of deep greens, lighter lilac hues, and deep purples. The edges resemble flower petals and when they are stacked, they take on the appearance of a flower. Seo-Yeon Park expresses that this collection is highly focused on O'Keeffe's quote that reads, "I paint because color is a significant language to me." Park blends together two or more tones with porcelain clay to craft each piece. The Slip-Cast collection of ceramic tableware is displayed at the Seoul-based gallery Sikijang.
