The Sliding House has a mobile exterior that will make people feel like they live in their very own luxurious stadium--the ones with a retractable roof, at least. Like a snake shedding its skin, the Sliding House outer wooden walls and roof slip away to reveal new shiny skin underneath, the first half of which happens to be all glass like a greenhouse while the second half is a bright red. Shaped like a Monopoly mansion, the Sliding House is simple, iconic and subtly unreal.
Designed by drMM Architects, the Sliding House is located in Suffolk, England. Comprised of the actual house as well as a garage and annex, its 20-ton mobile roof allows both private and open-air spaces. Utterly uncommon, the design of the Sliding House is inspired.
