It might not be difficult to pick up a flat pen off a flat surface, but the Slanda Pen shows how much easier it is when writing utensils stand up on their own. The design brings to mind quills and inkwells, the way the Slanda Pen tapers off at the end and stands on a tilt as though resting in a bottle. It was, however, named after the Swedish word for "dragonfly."
The Slanda Pen is manufactured by Sweden-based Gustav Innovation. They write, "It's named after a flying insect that has a unique ability to shift directions within a split second -- just like your mind. But it can also hover without moving a millimeter, allowing it to focus despite turbulent surroundings."
