Lidl GB is Rolling Out Electronic Shelf Labels to All Its Stores

Lidl GB has announced it will be rolling out electronic shelf labels at all its locations after a successful trial that took place in more than 35 locations in a bid to help enhance the shopping and management experience.

The update is reported to save more than 206 tonnes of carbon on an annual basis when it comes to paper and packaging savings, while also drastically reducing the usage of ink. The technologically advanced shelf labels also help to reduce the need for workers to manually check and update the paper price tags to help them focus more on restocking or helping customers.

Director of Sales Organization at Lidl GB Isaac Ekpenyong commented on the expansion of electronic shelf labels use saying, "As a discounter, sustainability and efficiency run deep in our DNA. Making changes to how we operate, no matter how big or small, allow us to enhance the overall experience for those shopping with us. In this particular case, we’re empowering colleagues by freeing up more of their time to dedicate to tasks that directly benefit our customers. But our transition to Electronic Shelf Labels is more than that; it is another step we are taking to reduce our impact on the environment by curbing paper and ink consumption."
