What looks more like the kind of vehicle you might see hawking hot dogs at a carnival is actually the homemade mobile home of three Japanese ex-high school classmates. The three chums had originally talked of a plan to go to Yakushima Island, which eventually became a "travel-around-Japan" trip.
They decided to make their own camper to embark on their trip. After purchasing a used truck, the trio took about two years to create their two-story mobile marvel.
The two-story camper has a built-in rice cooker, fully equipped bathroom, sink, two-burner gas stove, built-in trash box, an exterior two-square-meter deck, cork tile, and a beautiful tatami room upstairs. The tatami room boasts a skylight and is accessed with a staircase.
The camper actually travels flat. Two air cylinders lift the upper floor to make the camper a two-story dwelling.
