Friendly Delivery Robots

The Serve Robot Resembles an Iconic Cartoon Film Character

Taking design inspiration from the Pixar film Wall-E, Postmates' Serve robot brings autonomous delivery to the American courier company. While the company has tested third-party autonomous delivery options in the past, the Serve robot is fully proprietary and was built by Postmates from the ground up.

In terms of navigation, the Serve robot utilizes Velodyne Lidar and cameras. Postmates has already stated that the robot will safely move alongside pedestrians and walking speed and can navigate obstacles, such as fire hydrants. A human operator will be on standby to take over if needed, but other than that, the robot is fully autonomous.

When the Serve robot shows up a customers door it'll ask for a phone code to unlock the compartment before people can receive their orders.
