Starship Technologies will be testing self-driving robots to deliver packages and mail in the UK, Germany and Switzerland. Several major brands have teamed up with Starship Technologies to test the self-driving delivery robots in five cities.
According to the company, the self-driving robots are able to deliver packages, groceries and food within a two to three mile radius in 15 minutes while being monitored by humans. The robots can detect objects in front of their path and are able to maneuver away from them. Each bot is fitted with sensors that will send an alert to the humans monitoring it if the unit is lifted off the ground. The robots are also equipped with cameras and two-way audio.
Starship Technologies is planning to introduce the self-driving delivery robots to the United States in the near future.
