Segway is about to add to its range of patrol vehicles by introducing the SE-3 Patroller, which is targeted towards the security, law enforcement, emergency response and military markets. The SE-3 Patroller is unique from other patrol Segways in that it has three wheels instead of the usual two. This gives it a greater visible presence and makes mounting and dismounting a whole lot easier.
The Segway SE-3 Patroller runs on multiple lithium-ion batteries that can either be charged from a regular wall outlet or hot-swapped for continuous operation.
The vehicle is equipped with independent rear-wheel electric drive, emergency lights, sirens and an LED headlight. Vehicle operation data such as speed and battery life can be viewed on a 4.3-inch display that remains clear and easy to view even in the presence of harsh sunlight.
The SE-3 includes various safety features such as anti-rollover technology and 'Rider Detect,' which disables the motors if no one's riding the vehicle.
