The YubiKey Bio by Yubico is a new security key that requires fingerprint authentication. Security keys are often used to stop hackers and cybercriminals from hacking into online accounts. While the YubiKey Bio does just that, it also takes it a step further. By requiring the owner’s fingerprint, the YubiKey Bio ensures that the data will remain secure even if the key is physically lost or stolen.
This new design offers a completely password-less login -- a user simply needs to insert the key into their computer and sign in with their fingerprint. Much like the fingerprint scans on a smartphone, the user's biometrics are designed to remain on the device forever.
Yubico did not formally announce a release date or price for the new security key, however it said the fingerprint authentication has been a much-requested feature.
