Plans have been unveiled for the Seattle Space Needle renovation.
Architecture firm Olson Kundig has been selected to preform the $100,000,000 renovation that is expected to begin in September. The Seattle Space Needle renovation is expected to bring the iconic landmark back to its intended glory and replace the safety nets and fences installed in the 1980s. The nets will be replaced with glass so viewers can experience an unobstructed 360 degree view. According to Alan Maskin, a partner at Olson Kundig, "from a distance, it will appear as if the Space Needle is unchanged, but in fact, it will have changed significantly."
Initially built for the 1962 World's Fair, the Space Needle was intended to reflect the areas penchant for space exploration and futurism.
