Sea Creature Benches

Rael San Fratello Architects' Seat Slug is Inspired by Flabellina Goddardi

3D technology is going nowhere as the Seat Slug proves. This art piece was created out of a cement-based polymer using modo 3D modelling software. Made up of nearly 250 unique parts, the Seat Slug is a textured masterpiece that could easily be used as a bench rather than displayed in an art gallery.

Created by Rael San Fratello Architects, the design of the Seat Slug is inspired by flabellina goddardi, which happens to be the newest species of sea slugs discovered in California last year. It is also inspired by the infinite tessellations of Japanese karakusa patterns. Combined, these two elements make the Seat Slug a stunning creation that will have anyone and everyone marvelling over its construction.

The seat slug is set to be on display for two years at San Francisco’s Fort Mason National Park.
