Art made out of what most people would consider garbage is not getting old as the series Scrap Metal by Vik Muniz, an artist born in São Paulo, Brazil and based in New York City, shows. Known for such collages, the Brazilian artist has decided to turn his attention away from magazine pictures and other iconic imagery to create beautiful renditions of animals.
Comprised of a hummingbird, sea horse, goldfish and salamander, Scrap Metal by Vik Muniz uses everything from coins and coils to car doors and more. Huge works of art, the collages all have a golden palette, which makes them look even more magical. Once created, Muniz takes a photo and then returns them to their smaller scale.
