Inaccessible Shelving Architecture

Sallie Trout's Bookcase is Reached by Using a Bosun's Chair

Sallie Trout has built a whimsical bookcase that is accessible only by using a bosun's chair, which is often used by construction workers and window cleaner's. Designed and constructed for a house in Austin called the Jackalope Ranch, it is unlike any bookshelf I have ever seen before.

Fun and playful, Sallie Trout's original bookcase is definitely not for everyone. Although it would be great for family homes, it would need to be supervised by adults if used by children. Created in place of stairs, the hole became home to this very tall bookshelf. It seems as though Sallie Trout wanted to make this home adventurous and daring.

Completely unique, Sallie Trout's bookcase shows that some people are looking for homes that can be converted into mini playgrounds, which makes it more meaningful to each owner.
