The Saint Laurent Paris Spring 2013 Runway Debuted Hedi Slimane at YSL

The Saint Laurent Paris Spring 2013 collection showcased the first designs by Hedi Slimane for the iconic French design house.

A mix of western with bohemian, the seasonal offerings from YSL are definitely an ode to the 70s. Boasting a mostly monochromatic palette with bursts of caramel, the runway show was one of high voltage attitude. With models donning bold leather belts, capes, silk bows and standout hats, each look adhered to its thematic motifs to create a standout cohesiveness that was striking.

Though the exits were bold and decadent, it was interesting to see that they did not adhere to what is conventionally associated with the YSL aesthetic. Hedi Slimane is certainly bringing the iconic French fashion house into a new era as he redefines their look and name.
