A San Antonio-based company by the name of HeartSync has gone ahead and created a truly unique safety app, dubbed SAFER, that is designed to help protect police officers by using their heart rate to ascertain whether it's necessary to call for help.
The app, whose name is short for 'Situational Awareness to Facilitate Emergency Response,' takes note of when the officer's heart rate goes above or below the safety threshold, at which point it is capable of automatically alerting other officers. What's more, it can also take the officer's location into account and embed that information into the distress call.
