This new work by Ron Arad is currently on display in Lanaken, Belgium. The Gallery Mourmans is featuring his chairs, which kind of look like pennies and nickels, blown up and shaped into seating. His metallic chairs are extremely shiny, but they don't look particularly comfortable.
A miniature version of Ron Arad's chairs would be awesome for putting spare change and keys into. I'll wait to place my order until he creates that.
Implications - Consumers are drawn to products with unique designs because they feel the extra effort invested into crafting the product raises its monetary and intrinsic worth. Corporations wishing to raise the price of their products may do so simply by designing their goods in an uncommon way.
