The engineers at Romotive are working on a new version of the Romo Personal Robot. They say that their goal is to fulfill one of the unkept promises of science-fiction—the personal robot. The original Romo is "cute, responsive and really fast, but he’s still not capable of doing all the stuff you see in the movies."
That’s why Romotive is doing a Kickstarter campaign. Goals for the new version include: developing computer vision, autonomous navigation, facial recognition and remote two-way telepresence. Romo is compatible with iDevices, and all you have to do is download the app and plug your phone into the base to use him. In addition, outside app developers are given the chance to create their own Romo app software as well.
Keep tabs on this awesome gadget, or give to the Kickstarter campaign to reserve one of the first off the production line.
