Amusement Park-Inspired Seating

Rollercoaster by Interval Architects Takes Relaxers on a Ride

The public space aptly dubbed Rollercoaster by Interval Architects isn’t the first architectural design that has been inspired by the amusement park staple. Of course, its interpretation is quite unique. Instead of going for a very contemporary, playful creation, this public seating’s sinuous presence is rather traditional and sophisticated.

Located at a school in Beijing, China, the public space Rollercoaster by Interval Architects is fashioned entirely out of wood. With a very Asian aesthetic, shuttered wall details provides shade and shelter. Yet, it is its undulating curves that allude to its influence. By redefining the public space, the long Rollercoaster bench provides an iconic image for this school. Humanistic and functional, it really captures the essence of childhood while preparing these students for adulthood as well.
