The Rocket X5 is a new PCIe Gen 5 SSD from Sabrent that promises to deliver blazing-fast speeds of up to 14 GBps, which would make it the fastest SSD on the market. The drive is currently in the prototyping stage, and Sabrent is determined to hit the 14 GBps transfer speed target for the finalized product if possible. The pricing and availability of the Rocket X5 are not yet announced, but it is expected to launch sometime in 2023, after the mass production of high-speed 2400MTps NAND flash chips is resolved. Sabrent may decide to wait for these chips or launch the drive with lower specifications depending on its production strategy. The Rocket X5 will be compatible with modern AM5 and Intel platforms.
