If you ever find yourself lost in a shopping mall in Osaka, Japan, just look for a lurking robot with lemur-like eyes.
The Robovie is a crowd-monitoring robot capable not only of watching 20 people at once but analysing their behavior thanks to the 16 cameras stationed inside him. His two big eyes are complimented by a tiny pointed nose, no mouth and the palest robo-skin I've ever seen.
The robot is the creation of the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute (ATR) in Japan. Their intention was to create a human-like robot capable of giving directions for those who are lost by assessing disoriented behavior. He does this with his cameras, six laser range finders and 9 RFID tags. Probably not a good idea to wander around drunk when in the vicinity of one of these guys!
