Toyota has reportedly been drawing from its car research, and implementing it to design a robotic leg brace.
The device has been dubbed the 'Welwalk WW-100,' and is motorized to enable those who are partly paralyzed to greatly increase their range of movement. Due to this, the robotic leg brace is well-suited to those who have experienced strokes, and similar conditions that have affected their motor skills.
The Welwalk WW-100 works by helping its wearer to do things like swing their leg forward, all while supporting some of their body weight. As it's said that providing "too much mechanical assistance could slow down a patient's rehabilitation progress," the robotic leg brace can be adjusted to suit individual needs based off of a therapist's prescription.
