It's not uncommon to have real-world cars mimicked in video games, but the Volkswagen Roadster Vision Gran Turismo is different in that it was actually designed for Playstation 3's Gran Turismo 6 video game. However Volkswagen also built a real-world show car version of the virtual vehicle for the Worthersee festival in Austria.
The Roadster Vision Gran Turismo was developed jointly by Volkswagen and Sony Computer Entertainment. The virtual version of the car was unveiled first on May 26, with the real version being introduced a few days later at the Worthersee festival.
The vehicle is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo TSI V6 engine that produces 503 horsepower and 413 pounds-feet of torque. The engine is hooked up to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
