These road sensors were developed to reduce the number of accidents on one of the world's most dangerous roads. The smart sensors notify drivers of oncoming traffic coming around hairpin curves on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in India. The #RoadsthatHonk project was a collaborative effort between Leo Burnett India and HP Lubricants.
Designed to decrease traffic accidents and encourage safer driving habits, the road sensors detect cars coming around the corner using technology such as radar, solar power and wireless capabilities. Sensors are placed on either end of tight turns and communicate to each other forming an anti-collision warning system. When cars are detected, poles light up and make a loud honking sound to warn drivers on the other side.
