Featherweight Wooden Furniture

The Ripple Table is the World's Lightest Timber Table

Designer Benjamin Hubert of Canada has created the Ripple Table, said to be the world's lightest timber table at just a hair under 20 pounds. Hubert worked in conjunction with timber manufacturer Corelam to complete the table, which is reportedly 70 to 80 percent lighter than a regular timber table and can be built and moved around by one person.

The table is made out of birch aircraft plywood, a wood found only in Canada. Chances are that you've seen this wood before as it was used to make the wooden Spruce Goose transport plane. The table's minimalist and modern design combined with its light weight are sure to make it a hit among furniture fans. The Ripple Table is currently on display at the 2013 London Design Festival alongside many other of Hubert's works.
