In Denmark RFID Tags are Used to Change Lights for Bikers

Using RFID tags, the Danish city of Aarhus is trialling a system where cyclists can turn traffic lights green. The trial involves attaching RFID tags from ID-Advice to bicycle wheels. The tag is programmed to send a signal to a nearby reader, which has the power to change the light. This essentially lets the light know there are cyclists approaching and will need to cross, not unlike pedestrian push buttons who would like to cross the street. However, in this case the cyclist would never have to stop the bike.
