Rechargable ReVolt Zinc-Air Batteries May Increase EV Range

The rechargeable, environmentally-friendly ReVolt zinc-air battery is twice as efficient as a Li-ion battery. Zinc-air batteries haven’t been practical in the past because they must interact with air, which is difficult to do in an enclosed battery.

The ReVolt zinc-air battery uses air electrodes made up of tubes that allow a zinc mixture to oxidize and recharge when it is passed through them. ReVolt zinc-air batteries are expected to last for as many as 10,000 cycles and could give a 500-mile range 500 to electric vehicles.
