ELO – which is an acronym for ‘Earth, Land, Ocean,’ is a reusable straw that provides an alternative to wasteful single-use plastic drinking instruments. The project is initiated by Peter Scott who is the founder of Canadian start-up ELO Lab. The offered includes a colorful reusable straw that is made out of aluminum and a mobile application with a 21+ day "Challenge to Change." While the instrument provides a guilt-free way to drink a cold beverage, the app sends users reminders to be aware and mindful of their use of plastic, as well as the problematic habit that such synthetic utensils create for the environment in general.
The ELO reusable straw and accompanying mobile application are yet another product that drives for sustainability. The offering is currently being funded on Kickstarter.
