DIA (Dittel Architekten) designed and realized the Enso Sushi & Grill restaurant in the Dorotheen Quarter, Stuttgart, Germany.
As "Enso" translates to "the pursuit of harmony and perfection," a holistic room concept of 250 square meters was created with this in mind. Just as the coveted kitchen of the Stuttgart-based operator, the newly developed design includes Asian and European influences. Japanese minimalism manifests itself in the functional simplicity and large-scale free walls that give the viewer space to unfold their thoughts. Floral elements, lampshades and ornamentation are interpreted in a contemporary style.
An artful private space mimics Japanese floor seating while leaving room for inexperienced European legs. The consistent recurrence of rows in the slats, seating niches and wine racks create a calm overall picture, while high-quality dark oak wood and spotlights add a warm atmosphere. Perhaps guests feel that the life energy "qi" is flowing freely in the space and can harmonize with their environment because the floor plan is oriented on feng shui.
