Following their recent announcement that they will be adding driver-tipping app features, Uber will now allow you to request a ride for other people -- specifically the elderly and inebriated friends. Available as of today in more than 30 countries including in the Asian Pacific, the new feature lets you request a ride for loved ones from the Uber app.
The accessible expansion was added with senior citizens in mind, who worry about losing mobility as they get older, while family members must manage their transportation needs. When requesting a ride with Uber, you will no longer have to set your pickup as your current location. You will be able to pick a contact from your address book, set their destination and order a driver for them. The rider will receive a text message from their Uber driver.
