Scrap-Utilizing Fashion Collections

Greg Lauren's Fall/Winter 2020 Uses Repurposed Materials

For his Fall/Winter 2020 collection, Los Angeles-based designer Greg Lauren is using repurposed materials for 40% of it. The push to be sustainable in the fashion industry has been very strong and has caused many brands and designers to rethink the way they create and manufacture their products.

Through this capsule, Greg Lauren launches his 'GL SCRAPS' campaign. The method of measuring repurposed materials is by SCRAPWORK — while "one bag of 'scraps' creates 13 yards of SCRAPWORK' and six yards roughly equals a three-piece suit. This method of designing and creating apparel enables Greg Lauren to really push the envelope on deconstructed fashion, which also happens to be reminiscent of avant-garde aesthetics. As a result, the Fall/Winter 2020 collection boasts some interesting "patchwork-like aesthetics."
