Inspired by a DIY guide to making your own lomography camera previously posted on Unplgged, Noel Davis—an MIT architecture grad—has designed a replica plywood iVictrola speaker for iPhones.
The original iVictrola, now sold out on Design Within Reach’s website, was an iPad accessory that Davis loved but was not willing to spend $1, 000 on. Davis provides a step-by-step guide to his replica plywood iVictrola speaker on his site.
Davis also says the project only cost him $40 in materials and 3 days of his time (not including the laser-cutter used for cutting the plywood). The final product is quite impressive and serves as a wonderful alternative to the expensive and highly sought-after refurbished Victrolas available.
