In an effort to better support owners of old iPhones, Apple will be launching its 'Repair Vintage Apple Products Pilot' program for a number of older devices. While Apple does reserve the right to refuse service to a particular device, the tech giant has mentioned that devices as old as 2011's iPhone 4S or a MacBook Pro from mid-2012 will be available for repair. All repairs through the 'Repair Vintage Apple Products Pilot' will be done at its authorized service providers.
This new pilot program is a big step for Apple, who traditionally refused to service the older models of its products. Ranging from the iPhone 5 to the mid-2011 iMac, the service will repair a plethora of devices and will hopefully reduce global waste as users have less reason to throw old devices away.
