Re Kindl Candleholders Become Earthy Accessories from Commercial Waste

One industry's trash can be another's treasure and the proof is in the appeal of these Re Kindl Candleholders. These richly textured taper containers once came from the wood of freight pallets and skids and has been recycled and reprocessed to suit the new function.

The reclaimed composite material would be collected, disassembled, cut to the desired dimensions, glued and clamped together, drilled with a large cylindrical opening, sanded and then shellacked. Paul Hoover's components have no cost and the process of transforming them into candle holders makes them look as good as shiny and new.

The designer played around with a few possible models for the tea light stands and arrived at one particularly attractive one. These Re Kindl Candleholders hug transparent votive glasses for a striking textural juxtaposition between each grainy side support.
