Blockchain Food Tracking

IBM Partnered with Raw Seafoods Inc. to Track Seafood Using Blockchain

IBM has partnered with Raw Seafoods Inc in an effort to improve food safety using blockchain technology. The technology allows IBM to track a shipment of food from the source all the way to the market. However, IBM has had some problems with participating suppliers, due to different technological capabilities at different points of a supply chain.

However, IBM and Raw Seafoods Inc. are now working in conjunction with a number of scallop boats in New Bedford Massachusetts. IBM spoke on the collaborative efforts to track the scallops by stating, "The platform will also track when the boat landed portside, and when each scallop lot was hand graded, selected, packed and shipped to its final destination." IBM is also able to pair pictures and video footage to each boat arriving at a dock with a shipment.
