Studio Sway Develops an Aid for People in Drought-Stricken Regions

Shaakira Jassat, who is the founder of Studio Sway, has developed a slick and efficient rain catcher that will enable people in urban cities to collect water for drinking. The panel is dubbed 'Aquatecture' and it is quite slim. The silhouette, of course, is strategic — Jassat envisions it "to [seamlessly] fit on the outside of buildings in dense urban environments."

The rain catcher was conceived after the designer visited her native country in South Africa. She sought out to find a solution that would help drought-stricken cities, where "space is a premium." The Aquatecture panel is expected to gather rainfall and channel the water into the building's grey-water system, "where it can be recycled along with the wastewater from sinks, washing machines, and other appliances."
