Designer Patrick Stevenson-Keating has created something called the Quantum Parallelograph, a device that explores alternate realities. As incredible as the concept may sound, according to this video, the scientific community is actually deeply considering the existence of parallel universes.
Stevenson-Keating's device is an exploratory project, created to allow people to get a glimpse into another version of themselves and their lives. Using "online sources," the Quantum Parallelograph finds the parallel universe of a user and subsequently prints out a short statement about his or her alternate reality. According to the designer, the project rests on Young’s Double Slit Experiment; theories suggest that when a photon of light passes through the double slits, "a connection is made across universes, and the photon interacts with its parallel version."
It all sounds pretty fantastical, but the Quantum Parallelograph is actually based on the previous research of two Oxford University professors. At any rate, the Quantum Parallelograph's main goal is to "raise questions and provoke thoughts about the nature of our reality and our lives."
