Punch 2 is a digital drum machine developed by Rob Papen, which offers producers an all-in-one solution for developing, manipulating, and sequencing drums sounds and loops. Functioning as a virtual console, the plug-in improves the users' ability to create by combining synthesis, traditional sampling, and FX module routing into a single fast-working tool.
The console is set up around 24 programmable pads, and each pad is used for individual sounds. These sounds can either come from the built-in samples or the included drum modules, which include: four base-drums, two snares, three hi-hats, two toms, three claps, 14 percussions, and three user waves. Although it runs intuitively right out of the box, Punch is packed with a ton of features that can make it as complex as one makes it. With an immense set of high-quality modules and a deep synthesis engine, the capabilities of Punch 2 easily outperform other competing hardware and software drum modules.
In this succession model of the Punch product, Punch 2 now comes reconfigured with a brand-new design for the plug-in and several desired upgrades to its functionality. Punch 2 completely supports REX files, as well as user samples, all capable of drag-and-drop functionality for quickly loading pad sounds. This edition also brings a Granular synthesis processing option for sounds, and a new Master section for dynamic effects processing.
In addition, Punch 2 comes bundled with the Punch-BD plug-in, a virtual base-drum synthesizer with the intention for crafting base-drums through layering, which employs similar functionality to the full Punch plug-in. More information on Punch 2, and Punch-BD, can be found on Rob Papen's company website.
