The Primo Play Set Teaches Coding Before Reading

The digital life is becoming so prevalent that designers are finding ways to introduce it to children in a more educational manner; the latest being the Primo Play Set. Instead of getting children to fiddle with tablets and smartphones, the Primo Play Set encourages them to learn about coding. It is shaped like a traditional wooden toy to accomplish this feat.

With the Primo Play Set, a toddler can program a plywood robot. The simply pop a few colored boxes into a compiler board in order to get it working. From there, they can tell it where to go in the room. Filippo Yacob, managing director of the startup, says it started with a question: "How can we develop a product that helped children become creators, and not just consumers? And what does it mean to be a creator in the world we live in?"
