Tesla's new Premium Connectivity package will ensure user's never have to go without internet access as the service boosts internet features in its growing fleet of cars. Since the debut of the first Tesla vehicle in 2012, the automaker has proudly touted the cellular connectivity of its vehicles and this new package builds upon this existing system. Currently, the connectivity in the cars allows for software updates, live traffic maps and data, autopilot data and streaming services.
It is unclear as to the extent of feature the Premium Connectivity package will offer but the service will be given for free to current owners of the Tesla Model S, X and 3. Those who purchase a Tesla after July 1st 2018 will have a choice between the Standard Connectivity package and the Premium Connectivity package which will run about $100 per year.
