Rammed-Earth Mexico Guesthouses

PPAA Designs a New Guesthouse in Mexico for Vipp

Architecture firm PPAA designed the new guesthouse located in the town of Todos Santos in Mexico for Danish homeware brand Vipp. The building is defined by thick walls of rammed-earth with large terraces to bring attention to the juxtaposing notions of 'shelter and openness' at the coastal space. The brand wanted to expand into hospitality and started with commissioning guesthouses.

The founding partner and creative director of the studio, Pablo Pérez Palacios, speaks about the design, "The goal was to create a structure that feels as though it has always been part of this place and will continue to evolve with it over time. Rammed earth was a natural choice – not only does it blend seamlessly with the terrain, but it also serves as a highly efficient thermal mass, keeping the interiors cool during the day and warm at night."
