Harnessing your body heat, the Power Pocket generates electricity to power your phone. Researchers at the University of Southampton created the pocket to allow users to charge their phones cleanly and conveniently. Vodafone has taken charge of the project and is testing it out at a music festival on the Isle of Wight. Currently, the Power Pocket has been incorporated into sleeping bags and shorts.
The Power Pocket works by leveraging temperature differences between the external environment and your body. Using the Seebeck effect, the difference in temperature can be transformed into electricity. Sleeping in the Power Pocket sleeping bag for eight hours is enough to charge the average phone up for 24 minutes of talk or 11 hours of standby.
