For one day only, Powamekka Cafe will pop up to honor the 20th anniversary of Tupac Shakur's death through an unusual medium: food. The pop-up restaurant, which is slated to open in Fresno, California's Fulton Mall, will offer a menu that references some of Tupac's biggest hits and well-known lyrics.
Items on Powamekka Cafe's menu will include the California Love Chicken Sandwich, the Hennessy Apple Butter Chicken Wings, the Mac-and-Cheeseburger, and Thug Passion Cake Pops. And, of course, the pop-up restaurant will be pumping Tupac's music throughout the day.
While a restaurant might seem like an odd way to pay homage to the rap giant's musical influence, notes collected from Tupac's possessions after his death indicate otherwise. Apparently, the rapper had plans to open a restaurant of his own, and those plans are what the Powamekka Cafe owners based their designs off of.
