Portable Photo Studios

The iPhone 4 is not the usual kind of camera one would pick for jewelry photography but the Modahaus Table Top Studios have got it covered. Camera enthusiasts may have dissed the mobile phone camera but professional quality pictures are indeed possible. The iPhone teamed with the Modahaus, an innovative type of portable photo studio, lights and the 'camera+' app really delivered in a test of what is considered one of the most challenging types of photography -- macro pictures of jewelry on white backgrounds.

The Modahaus was developed by a professional product photographer who wanted not just an easy, portable photo studio which sets up in a few minutes (see demonstration here). He aimed to improve on the shortcomings of traditional light tents. The innovative backdrop support, translucent and opaque sheets creates a range of lighting effects from subtle to graduated and vibrant. The infinity curve produced by the bending of the sheets allows for an uncluttered background view.

The water and oil resistant and food safe special polymer used for the portable photo studio easily wipes clean. The anti-static properties also mean an end to photographing dust specks!
