This Pop-Up Apartment Has Movable Walls With Built-In Furniture

With the push of a button, this pop-up apartment transforms around you to give you more space. The Multimod Hyperbody MSc2 project created the Swiss army knife-like apartment design to offer 1000 square feet of space where only limited space is available.

Grooves in the flooring allow flexible walls to slide around. They are powered by a motor hidden under the floorboards but can also be moved manually. As the polypropylene walls shift they also change shape and built-in furniture emerges. Items like chairs and tables are hidden in folds of the walls and will stay razor thin unless you want to use them.

Students at the Dutch TU Delft designed the pop-up apartment so people could live in a continuously changing space while also addressing issues of urbanization and increasing populations.
