Polymer resin concrete has been around for a few decades. It is a durable, lightweight and chemically resistant alternative to Portland cement although it is more expensive. However, using polymer concrete in jewelry is novel. The contemporary jewelry by Smersh Design is therefore not heavy at all and is textural to boot.
They pour coloured polymer concrete into silver bezels or forms. After hardening and curing, some grinding is performed to finish the jewelry. Pearls are added which give the designs added elegance.
