Pierluigi Cierri unveiled his ‘Ouverture’ sofa in 1982, sharing a furniture offering inspired by the world of music, hi-tech design, and the architecture movement. Poltrona Frau is reintroducing the luxe item for a contemporary audience by incorporating new materials and colors in an effort to explore Cierri’s influences.
The sofa boasts a steel frame, which resembles a T-section pierced with circular forms, providing the framework for the building. Aluminum joints hold everything together and are purposefully displayed as part of the design. The luxurious cushions, which are covered in Pelle Frau leather or fabric, contrast this obviously industrial-looking frame.
Frau’s additions include ergonomically modified cushions and feature buttons on the rear, while two versions of the couch have been created to suit various types of living spaces. Consumers can choose between a two-seater measured at 239 centimeters in length or a three-seater which extends 318 centimeters long.
