Swedish furniture brand Blå Station has unveiled its newest furniture collection called Plybord. The new ensemble makes creative use of plywood -- a functional material not typically associated with high-end design -- to deliver three versatile seating designs.
Highlighting the beauty of plywood, each piece features organic, pigmented dyes that draw attention to the unique grain of the material. Unlike typical seat designs, these box-like furnishings were crafted to be multifunctional; they can be used as a seat, stool, table, and more.
The new offerings were designed by Johan Lindau, Blå Station’s CEO and design manager, who experimented with a variety of miter and joint combinations to achieve the minimalistic look of Plybord's offerings. "Everything is possible with good craftsmanship," explained Lindau, referencing the new collection's abandonment of internal support structures.
